About School Travel Planning

Who set up School Travel Planning?

School Travel Planning was set up by Jane Simmonds. Jane has chaired the Traffic Working Group (TWG) which has addressed local school-run problems in Hampstead for the past 15 years and has extensive knowledge of all aspects of the school-run. Jane has worked closely with schools in Camden, Barnet, Brent and Shropshire for the past six years, to develop school travel planning by writing school travel plans, carrying out school run research and planning school bus routes. School Travel Planning is a Limited company.

School Travel Planning

Through her work over the past seven years with schools, councils and parents, Jane and her team have a deep understanding of the complex issues that schools face and will work with schools and councils to find solutions that work. We start by working closely with the school to assess the schools' transport needs and build a consensus within the school and other partners (such as the staff, pupils, parents and the local council). We then use the research data provided by our surveys to work out achievable and realistic targets are that are tailored to each school. Progress against these targets can then be monitored as the School Travel Plan develops.

School Travel Planning Online Research

We provide a complete survey facility to schools with online research facilities which allow all your pupils, parents and staff to complete their travel surveys online. We customise the surveys for each school to reflect the unique needs of that school taking into account the survey groups. Schools find this process saves them all the time and effort that paper surveys require. We can then provide the survey results in an agreed form. This is an efficient and rapid process with support to ensure that we achieve very high response rates.
